 Lori Decter has been praised for her exquisite singing and expressive acting, captivating audiences with her first interpretations of some of the repertoire's most demanding roles including the title role in TOSCA, Senta in DER FLIEGENDER HOLLÄNDER, Leonora in IL TROVATORE, Alice Ford in FALSTAFF, Santuzza in CAVALLERIA RUSTICANA as well as Countess Almaviva in LE NOZZE DI FIGARO, Donna Elvira in DON GIOVANNI, Fiordiligi in COSI FAN TUTTE and Rosalinde in DIE FLEDERMAUS.

Ms. Decter has launched her young career as a Principal Artist in Residence for Opera San Jose, where she has also been heard as Mïcaela in CARMEN, Pamina and Erste Dame in DIE ZAUBERFLÖTE, as well as Clorinda in LA CENERENTOLA. During the 2003-2004 season Ms. Decter also made her debut with West Bay Opera.


Ms.Decter completed her tenure at Opera San Jose during the 2005-2006 season, debuting the roles of Amelia in UN BALLO IN MASCHERA, Mimi in LA BOHEME and Donna Anna in DON GIOVANNI. She made her international opera debut in June 2006 with Bangkok Opera, reprising the role of Fiordiligi in COSI FAN TUTTE.

Performances in the 2006-2007 season include Verdi's REQUIEM with Symphony Silicon Valley in March, followed by The Sesquicentennial Celebration Concert for San Jose State University in April featuring excerpts from Verdi's IL TROVATORE and AIDA and the Symphony Silicon Valley. In May, Ms. Decter sings Beethoven's NINTH SYMPHONY with the Vallejo Symphony.


Past triumphs include winning the Pacific Region for the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions and competing in the National Council Audition's Semi-finals on the stage of the Metropolitan Opera in 2001. Since then Ms. Decter has continued to receive career development support from the MONCA Educational Fund. In the 2000-2001 season, Ms. Decter was named as an International Finalist and Encouragement Award recipient for the Gerda Lissner Foundation and was a winner in the Advanced Division of the 32nd Annual Anton Guadagno Vocal Competition sponsored by Palm Beach Opera.

Ms. Decter completed her Graduate Studies and received her Bachelor of Music Degree in Vocal Performance from the School of Music and Dance at San Jose State University where she studied with Dr. David Rohrbaugh.
